For this collage, I decided to go back to my early beginnings of collaging and pull out some old national geographics gifted from a sweet friend. Admittedly, I moved towards digital collaging because I had burnt myself out on national geographic’s, mine had been torn up that only spines of the book remained. I also felt a bit tired of seeing the same images used in collages over and over, that and i was tired of cutting myself with an Xacto knife. So looking through the pages made me a little sentimental reminding me of a 22/23 year old Michelle.

I found this image and decided to mess around with my new printer and move it around during the scanning process. I also couldn’t find any scissors or my xacto knife so I just ripped it out. Sometimes you don’t need fancy tools to get the job done.

I then utilized Procreate to move things around and then I thought an image of a chainmaille necklace I recently made would look cool in it, and viola. I am trying to work with new color palettes as I gravitate towards dark blues and greens, so dusty purple was as safe as I could play it.

I also felt like the new Japanese Breakfast single fit the overall feel for this image. Although I am in no way, shape, or form musically inclined (I have a bass guitar that serves as a giant floor paperweight), I find there’s a tight relationship between my art and the music I consume. šŸ¤žšŸ» Many of my collages can be tied to a song that inspired its inception. šŸ¤

Anyways, done yapping
